The cold weather comes each and every year. And with it, soon follows the snow and ice. During this time it can be tempting to hibernate. Indeed, many animals do. However, many animals do not. And you yourself can find their strength to push through the cold weather and make these dark months productive.
This inner strength can be difficult to find. However it is there within you. You just need to push past certain beliefs that you may have been taught about winter by culture and your upbringing. Often, the cold weather is used as an excuse to stay inside and do nothing. This is an unfortunate lesson that our society exposes us to. For you can navigate this time of year in a way that only lets winter shift, and not lessen, your focus.
In winter, traditional societies turned to handicrafts, art, and tool creation. They couldn’t work outside, and so they turned to indoor projects. And so can you! Winter takes away certain distractions, and allows you to focus on a different set of priorities. And perhaps this is why it can be an experience that many dread. For winter may lead you to look at your life and your personal goals, which are two things that many want to avoid looking at too closely. However if you are brave and courageous you can use this opportunity to improve your self and your life.
Winter gives us an opportunity to focus on the simple things. It reminds us of what is important. And it shifts our awareness to our individual selves, our families, and our friends. It gives us a time for introspection, reconnection, creativity, and self-development. The opportunities are there. All you have to do is take them!
